THE CIMARRON WORKS
"Model Train Kits"
The
Cimarron Works is a company
dedicated to providing new and
unique model train products for
the fine scale model railroader.
Using innovative technologies
and materials, we produce
limited run kits of rolling
stock and structures that once
graced the narrow gauge scene in
the earlier part of the last
century. We specialize in models
of the fascinating, more obscure
prototypes that would be
prohibitively expensive if done
in injected styrene. Each
model kit is painstakingly
researched and recreated in a
detail not seen before, most of
which is molded in place thus
simplifying construction.
Our kits are produced using the
finest materials including
engineering tooling resins,
injected plastic castings,
etched brass, fine wood, and a
variety of other materials. We
use injected plastic castings
from PBL, San Juan, and Grandt.
Each model train kit is
carefully engineered using
computer assisted design (CAD)
and the patterns carefully
crafted by hand to provide
maximum detail and accuracy.

Cimarron
Works Policy
At The Cimarron Works it is our
strict policy not to
pre-announce
release of our kits
until they are ready to ship due
to the long lead times each
product has and the high
standards that we enforce. No
product will be shipped until we
are absolutely certain it will
meet our demanding standards.
Each
model kit will be produced in
limited numbers.
When
they’re gone, that’s it.
We have a huge plate full of
ideas and projects some of
which may take a long time to
get to. Although we intend to
produce
kits of the same cars in both O
and S scales it isn't always
possible to
do right away.
We
would like to suggest that if
you want a certain kit it may be
to
your advantage to have us
develop a custom run. You might
be surprised
how economical this can be. One
way to do this would be to
gather several
like minded modelers who desire
the same car and commit as a
group to
employ our custom building
services. This would defer your
individual
expenses among several buyers
and it would be an incentive for
us to
produce your kits at a
guaranteed price. Please
contact us if you would be
interested in our custom
building services for minimum
quantities and
an estimate.
It
is The Cimarron Works strict
policy never to sell individual
parts or contents of our kits
separately.
(The exception would be our
trucks and decals.) We get
requests for this, especially
passenger car roofs, quite often
and it is difficult when we have
to tell a customer no. We
understand your desire to
“short-cut” your project by
using one of our part but the
nature of the material we use is
such that we need to retain any
extras for the purposes of
replacement parts. The cost of
mastering some part, especially
passenger car roofs is quite
high (more than 60% of the total
kit) and reproducing many extra
pieces is an added cost to our
kits that already have tight
margins. Please refrain from
asking. The answer is
unexceptionally no. If a part in
your kit is defective we will be
happy to replace it free of
charge.
We are
committed to excellence in our
products and excellence in our
service. At this time we are
still in a state of transition.
Please be
patient with us, We are getting
better.
